Mountain Gorilla Filming Locations
March 31, 2016
There only three countries in the whole world where one can film the rare and endangered mountain gorillas. In our article today, we will explore mountain gorilla filming locations to allow media houses and filming companies get to know where they can film gorillas from. Countries with mountain gorilla filming locations include Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Uganda. Its only in these three countries that these rare primates live naturally.
In Uganda, mountain gorilla filming locations include Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park located in the southwestern part of the country. With almost half the number of mountain gorillas, Uganda then becomes an important mountain gorilla filming location in the whole world. There over 11 habituated mountain gorilla families in Bwindi National park that can be utilized for filming while we have one habituated gorilla family in Mgahinga National Park. Mountain gorilla filming locations in Rwanda are in Volcanoes National Park where over 10 gorilla families are habituated for gorilla trekking and filming. Another mountain gorilla filming location is The Democratic republic of Congo in the great Virunga National park. Of the three mountain gorilla filming locations, The Democratic republic of Congo is the most risky and as such we recommend gorilla filming in Uganda and Rwanda until the political situation in the Congo normalizes.
Uganda wildlife Authority is the body in charge of mountain gorilla filming locations of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and mgahinga national Park while Rwanda Development Board is in charge of Volcanoes mountain gorilla filming location. For anyone to filming these creatures, he/she is supposed to sign a memorandum of understanding with these two bodies for him to be granted a filming permit. As the law requires, all international media companies must be accredited and this work is done by Uganda Media Council here in Uganda. They must temporarily clear their filming equipment into Uganda and Rwanda since these two countries are not carnet free. Encounter Africa safaris is a fixer company and can help all film crew companies to film in either Rwanda and or Uganda.
