mountain gorilla filming fees have been increased

March 16, 2016

Uganda Wildlife Authority reviewed her tariffs and increased some items that include mountain gorilla filming fees. Mountain gorilla filming fees have been increased from USD4000.00 to USD4300.00 meaning that all those interested in filming mountain gorillas in Uganda have to add an extra USD300.00. The new change will stay until December 2017 when Uganda Wildlife Authority will review its tariffs again. Mountain gorilla filming fees have been increased due to several reasons and we will explore such reasons in this article so that all those interested in filming mountain gorillas get to know the facts before they plan coming to Uganda.

Reasons why mountain gorilla filming fees have been increased

Mountain gorilla filming fees have been increased by Uganda wildlife Authority due to several reasons that include raising funds to protect the endangered mountain gorillas. Initially, Filming companies would pay USD4000.00 as a group fee and would be given an opportunity to film mountain gorillas for a whole day. This cost would be on top of USD700.00 for gorilla permit per person in the film crew. This time round, companies have to pay USD4300.00 per group for one hour and then USD700.00 for gorilla permit per person for one hour. This therefore means that if a filming company wants to film for two hours, then USD8400.00 will have to be paid on top of gorilla permits per person. The more the hours of filming the more the money that will be charged by Uganda Wildlife Authority and the more the revenue that will be collected to protect mountain gorillas in Uganda. This revenue is used to not only protect gorillas but to cater for the well fare of Uganda Wildlife Staff.

Much as Mountain gorilla filming fees have been increased, one needs to know the whole process of securing filming permits from Uganda Wildlife Authority. All those intending to film mountain gorillas, they have to write an official letter to Uganda Wildlife Authority introducing themselves and explaining who, why, when they and how long they want to film. Encounter Africa Safaris will then forward this letter to Uganda Wildlife Authority who will then draft a memorandum of understanding to be signed by the company and UWA. This will include all terms and conditions of filming in National Park, filming fees and 5% monitoring fees. If Authorized, Encounter Africa safaris will sign and pick this filming contract on your behalf. Encounter Africa Safaris is the number one fixer company in Uganda and is glad to work with you whenever you plan to film mountain gorillas in either Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park.
