[restab title=”DAY BY DAY”]
Day One: Arrival, Pickup and transfer to Ruhengeri for your gorilla trekking
Our company driver guide will pick you from Kanombe Airport and transfer you to Ruhengeri town closer to Volcanoes National Park. Your guide will give you a briefing and you proceed to Kigali town which has been described as one of the cleanest city in Africa. Depending on your arrival time, you may decide to go for Kigali city tour to visit markets and the genocide memorial center. This center is very important to the people of Rwanda and the international community as it is a symbol of national reconciliation for those who lost their beloved ones and those who survived. The genocide center shows the untold story of the 1994 Rwanda genocide as well as other genocides that have happened all over the world. After your Kigali city tour, you will then enjoy lunch and drive for two to three hours to the northern part of Rwanda for overnight at Mountain View Gorilla Lodge (Upmarket), Lebambou Gorilla Lodge (Mid Range) or Kinigi Guest House/Muhavura Lodge (Low Budget) on Full Board Basis.
Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner.
Drive time: 2-3 hours.
Day Two: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
An early wakeup accords you enough time to prepare very well for your trek. We recommend that you wake up at 6am, prepare all your trekking gear and transfer to the restaurant for breakfast and thereafter drive to Kinigi park head quarters for entertainment normally from a given cultural group, briefing and then gorilla family allocation. In Rwanda just like Rwanda, you are allocated a given gorilla family depending on your interest and physical fitness. Once you have been allocated a family, you will be briefed by your gorilla guide before driving to the starting point of your gorilla trek. Gorilla trekking can take up to three quarters of the day but once you find gorillas, you will be allowed one hour with them and then you walk back to the park head quarters for your gorilla tracking certificate and then to the Lodge for overnight on Full Board. Please note that gorilla tracking can be challenging and thus a given level of fitness is required. You need to prepare very well and if you feel you are not fit enough, please take with you a porter who will help to give a pull or a push until you see the gorillas. Overnight overnight at Mountain View Gorilla Lodge (Upmarket), Lebambou Gorilla Lodge (Mid Range) or Kinigi Guest House/Muhavura Lodge (Low Budget) on Full Board Basis
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day three: Optional Activities and back to Kanobe Airport
After breakfast and depending on your flight details, you may choose to participate in optional activities (not included in the cost) such as goldern Monkey tracking, visiting Dian Fossel Grave among others. Return to the Lodge for refleshing and then drive to Kigali/Kanobe Airport for your international departure flight out of Rwanda.
End of your gorilla tracking Safari.
