  1. Expertise in organising Uganda safaris

Encounter Africa Safaris specialises in organising a wide range of safaris in the different parts of Uganda, tailoring each experience to meet the needs and unique interests of all our clients. We have years of experience in tailoring safaris to Uganda and some of the safaris that we offer include:

Gorilla tracking safaris: Tourists get to experience a thrilling one-on-one meet with the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park. Our guided treks ensure an unforgettable and safe adventure through the dense rainforests. Do not forget that gorilla tracking is only possible if you have a valid trekking permit procured in advance.

Gorilla habituation: Gorilla habituation offered in the Rushaga sector is one of the activities you can do in Bwindi. It offers you four hours with the mountain gorillas together with researchers and guides. Two gorilla families are set aside for this purpose, and tourists get to experience and learn social behaviours and interactions with these gentle giants.

Chimpanzee trekking: Get to meet and track the playful chimpanzees in the lush green forests of Uganda. Chimpanzees are intelligent and can be tracked in Kalinzu forest, Budongo and Kaniyo Pabidi forest (Murchison Falls National Park) and Kyambura Gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is an opportunity to observe and learn the social behaviour of the chimpanzees.

For more information about Uganda safaris and destinations, do not hesitate to contact us at Encounter Africa Safaris and our consultants will help you plan an unforgettable safari that covers your preferences.

Game drives: Enjoy the classic wildlife game drive safaris in Uganda’s national parks which include Kidepo Valley National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Lake Mburo National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is your chance to spot the Big Five and other wildlife species in their natural habitats. National Parks offer both morning and evening drives, where you get to see the different animal species.

Bird watching: Uganda is home to more than 1000 different types of bird species, and these can be seen in the different parts of the country, especially the national parks. Bird watching exercises are best done during the rainy seasons, with all the migratory bird species in the country, from November to April.

Cultural trips: Uganda is a cultural hub for tourists with the many tribes and their cultural differences that are worth exploring. Visit the local communities, cultural landmarks and traditional ceremonies, and get yourself some souvenirs from the locals among others.

Boat rides: These are offered in the different parts of the national parks, and are one of the many ways in which tourists get to explore the national parks and see the different animal and bird species. The morning drive is considered to be the best as many animals are always up in the morning in search of food.

  1. The customised itineraries

Encounter Africa Safaris puts their clients’ preferences into consideration, creating unique, tailored itineraries for the different tourists planning a Uganda Safari in the country. We customise and design tour packages with your involvement to ensure that every step of your journey reflects your desires and interests. Our travel consultants will work closely with you to create a personalised and valuable safari experience, which is why you should choose Encounter Africa Safaris to plan your Uganda safari.

Your involvement in organising a Uganda safari helps us understand exactly what you need when it comes to accommodation choices, transportation needs, the safari destinations, activities, the length of your safari, budget and what you expect on your Ugandan safari.

Uganda safaris are categorised into three, and these include luxury Uganda safaris, mid-range Uganda safaris and eco-friendly Uganda safaris.

Before we narrow down on an itinerary for you, you are required to cross-check and confirm the details before travel, and this has helped us plan effectively the customised itineraries for a Uganda Safari.

  • Luxury Uganda safaris: All our luxury Uganda Safaris are custom-made to fit your budget and schedule. The different itineraries showcased should expect on the safari that we can provide. The cost of the luxury safari usually depends on the accommodation, length of the safari and type of transport that you choose for your safari.
  • Budget-friendly Uganda Safaris: These are the best for all tourists who are travelling on a budget and we are here to help you with the tailored budget itineraries to ensure that all tourists are catered for during the safari.
  1. Sustainable tourism practices

Encounter Africa Safaris prioritises sustainable and ethical tourism, which has greatly contributed to the conservation of the endangered species like Mountain gorillas, Golden monkeys and rhinos in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. By organising trekking safaris, Rhino tracking, chimpanzee trekking, Golden monkey trekking and gorilla habituation, we are contributing indirectly to the conservation of the natural habitats of the wildlife species and also support the local communities around the national parks through tourism initiatives like infrastructure development, including hospitals, schools and roads, among others.

  1. Safety and comfort

Encounter Africa Safaris prioritiprioritisesathe nd comfort of all tourists throughout the safari. A Uganda safari comes with a lot of planning and some of the top items that need close attention during the planning include (where they are needed), transport, all the safari activities and transportation.

We at Encounter Africa Safaris pay close attention to the type of transport chosen, accommodation and ensure that all the activities that are chosen are safe for all ages and that you are driven to and from your safari destinations safely.

We have a good relationship with several accommodation facilities that we partner with, and they are categorised into three categories: budget, mid-range and luxurious accommodation facilities. As we plan for the safari, we will recommend some facilities that fit the amenities that you need and your budget. We also make sure that the facilities that we partner with are safe for our clients throughout the safari.

We also have well-maintained safari vehicles, mainly 4x4, that help us transport our clients to and from the different safari destinations. The vehicles that we use are the best for getting around the roads in Uganda and the national parks.

  1. Guaranteed unforgettable experiences

Encounter Africa Safaris ensures that clients get the best and unforgettable safari experiences while in the country. Uganda, as a country, has a lot to offer, starting with the 10 national parks in the country, the lakes, the River Nile, and other safari destinations which offer unique and unforgettable experiences.

When you plan with Encounter Africa Safaris, you will be assured of a well-planned and executed itinerary allowing you to enjoy yourself throughout the safari.

Affordability

Encounter safaris, with high-quality safaris, for different clients in Uganda at various budgets. Uganda is also known as an affordable safari destination compared to its neighbours. At Encounter, we have safari options for all budgets, catering to all tourists and all this is done at an affordable cost. Some of the factors that affect the cost of a Ugandan Safari with Encounter Africa Safaris include the following.

  • The length of the safari: The recommended days are three for a standard safari, but you can also have more days. The more days you get to spend on a Ugandan safari, the higher the cost of the safari and the fewer days you spend on a safari, the lower the cost of the safari. Ugandan safaris are paid for per day and this is why the length of the safari greatly affects the cost.
  • Permit purchases: Some safaris require a permit before travel, and these are gorilla tracking and chimpanzee tracking. The cost of the gorilla and chimpanzee tracking is included in the cost of the safari, and this is because they are a necessity and every tourist must have them.

$800 for foreign non-residents, $700 for foreign residents and UGX300,000 is the cost of the gorilla trekking permit in Uganda. The cost of the gorilla habituation permit is $1500 for foreign non-residents, $1000 for foreign residents, $1000 for other African citizens and UGX750,000 for East African citizens.

The cost of the chimpanzee trekking permits depends on the destination you have chosen and for more information, get in touch with us or check out our website to learn more about chimpanzee trekking.

  • The size of the safari group: You can decide to travel as an individual or as a group but note that this affects the cost of the safari. When you travel in groups, some of the costs of the safari, like accommodation and transport, among others, are shared, which greatly reduces the cost of the safari per person. And when you travel as an individual, you get to pay for all costs which in turn is exclusive but expensive.
  • The season you are travelling: Uganda safaris can be done throughout the year, depending on the activities you intend to participate in and your preference. There are two seasons of travel, and these are the dry and wet seasons. The dry season, which can in turn be referred to as the peak season, is an expensive time to travel because of the increase in the cost of the various safari logistics, including accommodation and transport. The service providers increase the fees because there are large crowds of tourists during th dry season which leads to many of the services providers increasing their costs to match the number of people. Both seasons are woth visiting and all you need to do is have a plan on what you are to do while on the safari.

What to consider when choosing a tour operator for Uganda safaris?

The trip of a lifetime. This was the adventure of a lifetime. Being able to be so close to these majestic animals in their natural habitat was breathtaking. Our trip was only two days in duration and in hindsight I would have loved to have done a two day trip. Our trek into the forest was a relatively short one and with only eight people in the group was just the perfect number. Our driver/ guide Jason was the perfect host being so knowledgeable about the gorillas and the local communities surrounding the forest. Our consultant Denis whom we communicated with from the very start of of this experience was nothing short of excellent!! The communication at all times was professional, informative and quick. At times during our hour spent with the gorilla family I had to pinch myself to remind me that this was actually for real and not some excellent wildlife documentary. Words and pictures don’t really convey the remarkable experience that this was. If you are reading this then I would encourage you to have this experience for yourself. Encounter Africa Safaris we’re 5 star from begin to end.

Solo Female Traveler in Uganda - Exceptional experience while feeling safe Being a solo female traveler, I felt incredibly cared for in both the planning and the actual vacation. Denis and the Encounter Africa Safari Team helped me decide on how to book my trip within my budget and with hotels that don't penalize you for staying alone. Beyond that, they provided last-minute changes (about a week before) to what I wanted to see. When my driver arrived, it was a VERY early transfer from a different tour group in the high Bwindi Mountains. Huge shout out to Patrick (my driver), he was very knowledgeable, and has such PASSION for what he does. Not as someone who just bogs you down with all the information in his head (which he was able to answer all my many, many, many many questions) but truly wants to know what would make your vacation the BEST one, what you care about seeing, and provides a view of Uganda through a local's eyes and why it is beautiful to them. He helped me see beyond just the incredible experiences of the Safaris, Nile, Kazinga Channel, and White Water Rafting - but also the people, locations that are off the beaten path, and what truly makes Uganda special and unique in so many ways. I hope to return soon! Thank you for making this investment in memories worth every penny, and for helping me feel safe and respected by both the company staff and every person in the hotels and those we met along the way.

Professional, Responsive, and Reliable – Excellent Experience with Encounter Africa Safaris We had a fantastic experience with Encounter Africa Safaris in Uganda. From the very beginning, their communication was fast, clear, and professional. Monica, in particular, was incredibly responsive and helpful — she answered every question promptly and with genuine care, which gave us great peace of mind while planning our trip.We chose the two-day, one-night itinerary starting and ending in Kigali, with a border crossing into Uganda for gorilla trekking in Bwindi. Everything ran smoothly from pickup to drop-off at Kigali Airport. Our driver, Edgar, was outstanding — calm, friendly, and extremely skilled behind the wheel. Navigating the rough, winding gravel roads to Bwindi is no small task, but Edgar handled it with ease and confidence. We always felt safe and well taken care of, even in the most remote areas. The logistics were smooth, the planning thoughtful, and the overall experience was exactly what we hoped for — efficient, well-organized, and stress-free.If you're considering a safari or gorilla trekking adventure in Uganda, I can highly recommend Encounter Africa Safaris for their professionalism, personal touch, and great team.

Amazing experience I did the 3 day gorilla experience from Kigali and the whole trip was fantastic. From the initial planning with Denis who answered ALL my questions and queries. I was a little nervous about booking directly and online however the company was really professional. I was picked up in Kigali by Godwin and then taken to the Genocide museum then we had a beautiful dive through the Rwandan and Ugandan countryside. I stayed at the Rushaga Gorilla Haven Lodge where the staff were really friendly and with beautiful views of the forest from my bungalow. The gorilla trekking was such a great experience, we got to spent an hour with a family of about 15, I still cannot believe how close we were. On the trip back to Rwanda I had time to drop in at Bunyonyi Lake and did a 2 hour boat trip before being dropped back at Kigali Airport. I enjoyed the whole trip, Godwin took great care of me. I will return again in the future and definitely recommend. Thank you to the Encounter Africa team.

We recently completed a memorable trip organized by Encounter Africa, traveling from Kigali, Rwanda to Entebbe, Uganda, and overall, the experience was overall excellent. Right from the start, everything was well-organized, and the itinerary was thoughtfully planned. The lodges selected for our stay were generally of a high standard, offering comfort, great service, and beautiful surroundings. There was one exception during the trip where a lodge didn’t meet expectations, but we were very impressed with how quickly and professionally Encounter Africa responded. They changed the accommodation immediately without fuss, showing a strong commitment to guest satisfaction. A major highlight of the trip was our guide, Richard (Instagram: @richardmrtravels). Richard was nothing short of fantasti....knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready to help. Whether we had questions about the places we visited, needed assistance with logistics, or just wanted to learn more about the region, Richard was our go-to person. He’s highly recommended if you want a top-notch guide who truly cares about your experience. The gorilla and chimpanzee tracking excursions were absolutely unforgettable—well coordinated, with expert local trackers, and truly one-of-a-kind wildlife encounters. The only downside of the trip was the standard of transport provided. The vehicle’s air conditioning was not functioning properly, which made some of the longer drives uncomfortable, especially during the hotter parts of the day

Patrick was our tour guide and he was nothing short of amazing. He helped to make my wife and my honeymoon unforgettable. He made us feel totally comfortable and and was a pleasure to get to talk with and learn more about Uganda. Without hesitation I recommend his service. Uganda will hold a special place in our heart, in my ways because of Patrick’s level of service and caring nature. The chimp trekking and gorilla hiking were a once in a lifetime experience. Don’t hesitate to use this company and make sure to ask for Patrick!
