The professional team is tasked to make sure that all the client’s interests are taken into consideration when planning a Rwanda Safari

  1. Affordable and customised safari packages

For affordable and customised safari packages, get in touch with Encounter Africa Safaris, which offers a range of affordable safaris to Rwanda, ranging from gorilla trekking to chimpanzee trekking to wildlife adventures. At Encounter Africa Safaris, we allow our clients to customise their trips to fit their interests and budgets. Some of the packages that we offer include:

Gorilla tracking: Carried out in Volcanoes National Park, Gorilla tracking is a top safari activity that attracts over 1000 trekkers per year. Volcanoes NP has 12 habituated gorilla families that are open for trekking all year round, and to participate in this exercise, you need to have a gorilla trekking permit, which we are here to help you purchase. At Encounter, we will help you book and purchase the permit on your behalf and also help you organise other logistics like safari activities, accommodation and transport.

Chimpanzee tracking: This is a must-do when you visit Rwanda, and it is carried out in Nyungwe Forest National Park. Nyungwe is home to two chimpanzee communities that you can trek and you will also need a chimpanzee trekking permit to be able to participate in the exercise. Our travel consultants are available to help with the purchase of the permits but note that this has to be done in advance.

Golden monkey trekking: Golden monkey trekking is also carried out in Volcanoes National Park, and one is required to have a golden monkey trekking permit to be able to get access to these endangered species.

Visiting the Genocide centre: The Genocide centres that are located in different parts of Rwanda are a reminder of how the 1994 genocide affected not only Rwanda but the entire world. A visit to one of them will be a reminder of how gruesome a war can be, how far Rwanda has come after the Genocide and remembering all those who were affected by the war.

Game drives: Game drives in Rwanda are carried out in Akagera National Park, and these can be organised and arranged for by Encounter Africa Safaris.

  1. Provides comfort and safety to the tourists

When planning a Rwanda safari, Encounter Africa Safaris' main purpose is to make sure that all clients are comfortable and safe throughout their safaris. Comfort and safety come in many forms, and these include making sure that the accommodation you get is safe and comfortable, the same applies to transport, the different activities carried out on a safari and what to bring on your safari.

Accommodation: When Encounter Africa Safaris is booking accommodation for their clients, we first look at your budget, preference for the amenities provided and the overall safety of the client. All our partnered accommodation facilities offer comfort and security in the different safari destinations in Rwanda. You need to book accommodation in advance, however, because it is always in high demand, most especially during the dry season. Our tour consultants will give you a chance to make the choice of what you need when it comes to accommodation while giving you advice as well.

Transport: Many of Rwanda’s safari destinations are located not far away from Kigali City and the Kigali International Airport, making it easy to get there, and the most commonly used and safest mode of transport is by road. The well-maintained 4x4 safari vehicles that Encounter Africa Safaris offers offer all the comfort and safety by making sure that clients are comfortable as they drive around the country heading to the various safari destinations and then back to the city centre.

The different safari activities: Safari activities in Rwanda are carried out in the different safari destinations and Encounter Africa Safaris is here to help you plan for the different safaris. Depending on what you want to do while on your safari to Rwanda, we will help you get the best safari activities as per your wishes, budget, the time that you have for your safari, according to the season of travel and the safety and comfort level of the safari activities. Get in touch with us at Encounter Africa Safaris for all your safari needs especially safari activities.

Rwanda is considered to be one of the safest countries in the world, but you also have to keep personal security by sticking to the safari group, not walking at night and following the country’s rules and regulations.

  1. Encounter Africa Safaris has experience in organising Rwanda safaris

Encounter Africa Safaris ensures that you have the best and unforgettable safari when you book with us, and some of the safaris we have experience in organising include gorilla trekking, Golden monkey trekking, Chimpanzee tracking, a visit to the genocide centres, cultural trips and game drives through Akagera National Park, among others.

The years of experience we have, have enabled us to ensure that our clients get to know all the safari activities they can participate in and help them make the right decisions.

  1. Encounter Africa Safaris has the best tailored itineraries

When it comes to Rwanda Safaris, we pride ourselves on having the best tailored itineraries that are focused on customer service for all our clients. Our customised itineraries are tailored for all types of tourists that visit Rwanda and the categories of tailored itineraries that we offer to our clients include:

Budget safaris: Although Rwanda is known to be a luxury safari destination, we can tailor your affordable/budget safaris, putting transport, season of travel and the type of accommodation chosen into consideration.

Luxury safaris: Depending on the activities you wish to add to your itinerary, we tailor luxury safaris to Rwanda, especially for tourists who plan on having a private tour and exclusive accommodation and other logistics, including transport.

Group safaris: Our consultants can help you plan a group safari within Rwanda, planning not only the activities to be carried out, but transport and accommodation as well. All you have to do is provide relevant information about the people in the group.

  1. Encounter Africa Safaris helps you choose the right safari for your clients

There are so many safaris that you can plan for your Rwanda safari, and at Encounter, our main purpose is to help you make the right choice of safari to take, when to take it, and how to maximise your time while enjoying the same safari at the same time. The different types of safaris in Rwanda include game drives, bird watching, gorilla and chimpanzee trekking, guided walks, cycling, cultural trips, boat rides, and the canopy walk, among others. We will help you decide on what to do best, the best combinations and what is needed for each of the types of safaris in Rwanda.

  1. Encounter Africa Safaris guides their clients

Encounter Africa Safaris not only helps tourists plan for their Rwanda Safari, but they also offer guidance/advice to help their clients make the right decisions. The advice ranges from when to go, the safari activities to do or combine, the type of accommodation to get, the best mode of transport to bring, and what to pack for the safaris among others.

Best time to go: Rwanda is an all-year-round safari destination, but at Encounter Africa Safaris, we advise our clients to visit Rwanda during the dry season from June to September and December to February. The dry season has favourable weather conditions that support many safari activities, including guided nature walks, game drives, primate tracking and gorilla tracking, among others. The trek routes and trails are easy to use and there is little or no rainfall to disrupt the different safari activities.

The wet season is considered to be the best time to visit Rwanda for a budget safari. Some services, especially accommodation, offer discounts during this season, and there are also fewer crowds, giving tourists ample time and space to enjoy the different safari destinations in the country.

How many days to spend on your safari:  We also advise our clients on how many days to spend on the safari, depending on the activities you wish to participate in, and your budget. The ideal number of days to spend on safaris is 3 days, but you can adjust and do fewer or more to have a full-blown safari experience in Rwanda.

The type of accommodation: Putting in mind that accommodation in Rwanda comes in three categories, that is, luxury, mid-range and budget accommodation facilities. The type of accommodation you choose depends on your budget and preference. Also, the period for which you book the accommodation determines the type of facilities you get. They are always in high demand during the dry season, and this is why we advise all our clients to book their accommodation facilities in advance.

The cost of the safari in Rwanda: Encounter Africa Safaris also advises tourists about the cost of the Rwanda safari, taking into consideration the different factors that affect the cost.  We always want to ensure that our clients get the best itineraries at a cost that won’t break their bank accounts. The different factors that usually affect the cost of the Rwanda Safari include:

The length of your safari: The more days you spend on your safari, the higher the cost of your safari and the fewer days spent the lower the cost of your safari.

The season of travel: The dry season is a peak season, making the cost of the safari during this period high as compared to the wet season, which is also known as the low season.

Safari activities: The more safari activities you add to your itinerary, the higher the cost of the safari because each safari activity is paid for independently, raising the cost of the safari and vice versa.

Number of people in a travel group: The larger the group of tourists travelling together, the lower the cost of the safari whereas private safaris cost more.

With all the above being put into consideration, our tour consultants will help you plan your safari with your budget put into consideration.

The trip of a lifetime. This was the adventure of a lifetime. Being able to be so close to these majestic animals in their natural habitat was breathtaking. Our trip was only two days in duration and in hindsight I would have loved to have done a two day trip. Our trek into the forest was a relatively short one and with only eight people in the group was just the perfect number. Our driver/ guide Jason was the perfect host being so knowledgeable about the gorillas and the local communities surrounding the forest. Our consultant Denis whom we communicated with from the very start of of this experience was nothing short of excellent!! The communication at all times was professional, informative and quick. At times during our hour spent with the gorilla family I had to pinch myself to remind me that this was actually for real and not some excellent wildlife documentary. Words and pictures don’t really convey the remarkable experience that this was. If you are reading this then I would encourage you to have this experience for yourself. Encounter Africa Safaris we’re 5 star from begin to end.

Solo Female Traveler in Uganda - Exceptional experience while feeling safe Being a solo female traveler, I felt incredibly cared for in both the planning and the actual vacation. Denis and the Encounter Africa Safari Team helped me decide on how to book my trip within my budget and with hotels that don't penalize you for staying alone. Beyond that, they provided last-minute changes (about a week before) to what I wanted to see. When my driver arrived, it was a VERY early transfer from a different tour group in the high Bwindi Mountains. Huge shout out to Patrick (my driver), he was very knowledgeable, and has such PASSION for what he does. Not as someone who just bogs you down with all the information in his head (which he was able to answer all my many, many, many many questions) but truly wants to know what would make your vacation the BEST one, what you care about seeing, and provides a view of Uganda through a local's eyes and why it is beautiful to them. He helped me see beyond just the incredible experiences of the Safaris, Nile, Kazinga Channel, and White Water Rafting - but also the people, locations that are off the beaten path, and what truly makes Uganda special and unique in so many ways. I hope to return soon! Thank you for making this investment in memories worth every penny, and for helping me feel safe and respected by both the company staff and every person in the hotels and those we met along the way.

Professional, Responsive, and Reliable – Excellent Experience with Encounter Africa Safaris We had a fantastic experience with Encounter Africa Safaris in Uganda. From the very beginning, their communication was fast, clear, and professional. Monica, in particular, was incredibly responsive and helpful — she answered every question promptly and with genuine care, which gave us great peace of mind while planning our trip.We chose the two-day, one-night itinerary starting and ending in Kigali, with a border crossing into Uganda for gorilla trekking in Bwindi. Everything ran smoothly from pickup to drop-off at Kigali Airport. Our driver, Edgar, was outstanding — calm, friendly, and extremely skilled behind the wheel. Navigating the rough, winding gravel roads to Bwindi is no small task, but Edgar handled it with ease and confidence. We always felt safe and well taken care of, even in the most remote areas. The logistics were smooth, the planning thoughtful, and the overall experience was exactly what we hoped for — efficient, well-organized, and stress-free.If you're considering a safari or gorilla trekking adventure in Uganda, I can highly recommend Encounter Africa Safaris for their professionalism, personal touch, and great team.

Amazing experience I did the 3 day gorilla experience from Kigali and the whole trip was fantastic. From the initial planning with Denis who answered ALL my questions and queries. I was a little nervous about booking directly and online however the company was really professional. I was picked up in Kigali by Godwin and then taken to the Genocide museum then we had a beautiful dive through the Rwandan and Ugandan countryside. I stayed at the Rushaga Gorilla Haven Lodge where the staff were really friendly and with beautiful views of the forest from my bungalow. The gorilla trekking was such a great experience, we got to spent an hour with a family of about 15, I still cannot believe how close we were. On the trip back to Rwanda I had time to drop in at Bunyonyi Lake and did a 2 hour boat trip before being dropped back at Kigali Airport. I enjoyed the whole trip, Godwin took great care of me. I will return again in the future and definitely recommend. Thank you to the Encounter Africa team.

We recently completed a memorable trip organized by Encounter Africa, traveling from Kigali, Rwanda to Entebbe, Uganda, and overall, the experience was overall excellent. Right from the start, everything was well-organized, and the itinerary was thoughtfully planned. The lodges selected for our stay were generally of a high standard, offering comfort, great service, and beautiful surroundings. There was one exception during the trip where a lodge didn’t meet expectations, but we were very impressed with how quickly and professionally Encounter Africa responded. They changed the accommodation immediately without fuss, showing a strong commitment to guest satisfaction. A major highlight of the trip was our guide, Richard (Instagram: @richardmrtravels). Richard was nothing short of fantasti....knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready to help. Whether we had questions about the places we visited, needed assistance with logistics, or just wanted to learn more about the region, Richard was our go-to person. He’s highly recommended if you want a top-notch guide who truly cares about your experience. The gorilla and chimpanzee tracking excursions were absolutely unforgettable—well coordinated, with expert local trackers, and truly one-of-a-kind wildlife encounters. The only downside of the trip was the standard of transport provided. The vehicle’s air conditioning was not functioning properly, which made some of the longer drives uncomfortable, especially during the hotter parts of the day

Patrick was our tour guide and he was nothing short of amazing. He helped to make my wife and my honeymoon unforgettable. He made us feel totally comfortable and and was a pleasure to get to talk with and learn more about Uganda. Without hesitation I recommend his service. Uganda will hold a special place in our heart, in my ways because of Patrick’s level of service and caring nature. The chimp trekking and gorilla hiking were a once in a lifetime experience. Don’t hesitate to use this company and make sure to ask for Patrick!
