Chimpanzee trekking in Uganda is majorly done in Kibale forest national park and other safari destinations where chimpanzee trekking takes places includes Kyambura gorge in Queen Elizabeth national park, Budongo forest in Murchison falls national park, Kalinzu forest and among many others. Chimpanzee trekking starts early in the morning with a briefing about rules and regulations to follow during chimpanzee trekking at the park headquarters by the park guides and park rangers. After the briefing you will be grouped in various groups of 6 people per group and each group will be led by the experienced guides and rangers that are familiar with park trails.

You will explore the forest as you are searching for the chimpanzees; this takes a period of about 30 minutes to 5 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees because these creatures normally relocate in various places to look for food, along the way looking for the chimpanzees you will be fascinated by spotting other biodiversity like the primates, bird species, animal species, various tree and then the plant species.

And once the chimpanzees are spotted you will be given a period of one hour to be in the presence of the chimpanzees that is watching the chimpanzees playing, watching them feeding, watching the female chimpanzees  grooming their young ones, during the one hour you will take the chimpanzees pictures and recording their videos. After the one hour you will trek back to the starting point to where you will be rewarding with a chimpanzee trekking certificate for participating in chimpanzee trekking.

Besides the chimpanzee trekking, on a Uganda safari, the tourists enjoy chimpanzee habituation experience this is the experience of being with the chimpanzees in their natural habitat for four hours instead of one hour in chimpanzee trekking. This experience is more impressive compared that chimpanzee trekking and it’s done in the presence of the scientists, researchers, conservationists, rangers and others  and it only takes place in Kibale forest national park.
