UWA clarifies on Mgahinga discounted gorilla permits

According to the above article, Mgahinga gorilla permits were supposedly discounted from USD600 which is the normal price for all Uganda gorilla permits in high season to USD350.00 in the month of June 2015. That the campaign was to run from 1st to 30th June 2015 in order to attract more tourists to Mgahinga National park which is facing competition from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
However information from the office of Director of Tourism at Uganda Wildlife Authority, no such thing as been issued out indicating that Mgahinga gorilla permits had been reduced. He said that Uganda Wildlife Authority decided to offer low season discounts on all Uganda gorilla permits be it for Bwindi National Park and that every year, UWA will be issuing these but the price to be reviewed from time to time.
This article had caused a lot of excitement to tour operators who were looking forward to attracting tourists to Maghinga National Park this June which is high season. This therefore means that for those interested in utilizing discounted gorilla permits to track the rare mountain gorillas will have to wait until November 2015 when they will be back on offer.
