Uganda wildlife authority stops low season gorilla permits as Rwanda doubles the price of their gorilla permits from USD750.00 to USD1500.00. Following an increase in price of gorilla permits for Volcanoes National Park making Rwanda the most expensive gorilla trekking destination, Uganda has remained firm by not following suite but to maintain its high season gorilla permit rate of USD600.00 for all months. The decision for Uganda wildlife authority to stop low season gorilla permits is to make sure that while the country remains affordable, it should not be looked at as a cheap destination for gorilla trekking yet the experience obtained in Uganda and Rwanda is almost the same.
