Nkuringo gorilla family located in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park last week received a new member in the family which is good news to the overall number of mountain gorillas in the whole world. This follows some hard time for gorillas in the year when Uganda lost two silverbacks of Kyaguriro gorilla family in the eastern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National park as well as a silverback for Kahungye gorilla family in the southern part of Bwindi National Park otherwise referred to as Rushaga. Uganda wildlife Authority which is in charge of all national parks in Uganda broke the news last Thursday and attributed this to better conservation policies.

New Martyrs’ trail launched. Uganda Tourism board and Uganda safaris guides association last week launched a new look Uganda Martyrs’ trail which will be available to all tourists come martyrs day. The guest of honour was the mayor of Entebbe town who flagged off participants from Kigungu Landing site where the first missionaries landed and then this was followed by other sites considered important. Uganda Martyr’s day attracts millions of tourists from different countries who come to Uganda to remember Christian converts that were burnt live by King Mwanga.

First Phase of discounted gorilla permit coming to an end. Uganda wildlife authority has been offering discounted gorilla permits since 2013 and during 2015, this discount has come alive as April and May has seen many tourists flock Bwindi Impenetrable national Park to trek mountain gorillas at only USD350.00 for foreign none residents, USD300.00 for foreign residents and USD100 for East Africans. If you have not booked your permit, there is still space for may and November for you to come and enjoy a rare opportunity with the endangered mountain gorillas.

Uganda Safari guides association in conjunction with Association of Uganda Tour operators and Uganda Wildlife Authority are training safari guides in Queen Elizabeth National Park. This training that started on 1st May will end on 20th may 2015 is aimed at equipping all participants with basic guiding skills for better guiding in Uganda. Its has been noted that for Uganda to ably compete with other countries in region such as Kenya and Tanziania, it must invest in training all those involved with tourists and the person that spends most of the time with tourists are guides. Uganda Tourism Board is planning to licence all tourist guides in Uganda and such trainings offer an opportunity to all those looking forward to working in the tourism industry.

Buhoma community rest banda’s opened up it luxury wing to offer an alternative to its budget section. This camp is one of the oldest camps located in Buhoma (Northern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National park in Uganda. Buhoma community offers descent accommodation in Bandas and tents at affordable rates and has now opened up another wing where tourists more mid range can stay.
