The price for kibale chimp permits has been increased from $150 to $200 effective 1st July 2020

The price for Kibale chimp permits has been increased from $150 to $200 effective 1st July 2020 for the next two years. This increment was announced during a stakeholders meeting at Hotel Africana. This, therefore, means that all those intending to visit Uganda after 1st July 2020 will pay an extra USD50 which has now been added on to make it USD200 per permit per trek. This increment in price has been due to increased demand for chimpanzee treks in Kibale forest National Park. It should be noted that Kibale National Park remains one of the best places in Africa to visit habituated communities of chimpanzees with a chance of seeing other eleven primate species and so many birds resident in this residual tropical rain forest.
Located in western Uganda, Kibale National Park is indeed a pride of Uganda when it comes to chimpanzee trekking and viewing. Initially, when chimpanzee permits were on 150, the demand for chimp trekking has been increasing something that forced Uganda wildlife Authority to have three shifts per day to enable the so many tourists to visit these habituated communities of wild chimpanzees. It is also argued that the small addition to the price will assist in the conservation of chimpanzees in Kibale by facilitating research as well as paying all those employed to conserve these great apes in Uganda.
It should be noted that while the price for Kibale chimp permits has been increased from USD150 to USD200, the cost of other chimp trekking places such as Kyambura gorge has been maintained at USD50. For those interested in booking and trekking chimpanzees while in Queen Elizabeth National Park can consider including Kyambura gorge on their itinerary.
