The great walk to save gorillas
The great walk to save gorillas
One young man from Mexico will this May 2015 start his long walk that is expected to start from Mexico via the pacific crest trail to Canada in the north in order to raise funds and provide information about the endangered mountain gorillas. He is doing this under a charity organization called gorilla organization in a bid to protect and conserve the rare and giant mountain gorillas.
According to a census that was conducted in 2014, it was established that only 880 individuals of mountain gorillas occur in the whole world. Half of these mountain gorillas stay in Bwindi Impenetrable national park while the rest of the numbers are in Volcanoes National park in Rwanda and virunga volcanoes in democratic republic of congo.
Through this walk, kryan is aiming at raising 100,000 pound sterling to fight gorilla problems and challenges such as poaching, loss of gorilla habitats and so much more that make a difference in the life of mountain gorillas.
Kryan is expected to walky 25 miles a day for 4 months, Kyran will be walking the equivalent of 6 and a half times the length of England. Starting in the hot Mojave Desert near the Mexican border, he will cross the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range and Cascade Mountain Range to finish in Canada 120 days later. He will pass through 25 National Forests and 7 National Parks, and climb the highest mountain in the US outside of Alaska – Mt Whitney of 14,000ft.
This is a unique campaign aimed at conserving mountain gorillas and all funds will indeed help in this cause. You too can contribute to the cause of conserving mountain gorillas by coming to Uganda in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park for gorilla trekking as funds from the sale of gorilla permits are dedicated to this cause as well. You will be awarded a certificate by Uganda wildlife Authority in recognition of your efforts. You can take advantage of the low season gorilla permits which are on sale at USD 350.00 only and this happens in the months of April, May and November. Encounter Africa safaris can help you to organize affordable gorilla tours in Uganda and Rwanda so feel free to contact us.
