Located in the heart of East Africa, Uganda is a landlocked country but with many beautiful landscapes and wildlife to see when you visit. Blessed with many future including the source of the longest river in the world; the River Nile and has also the largest water body in Africa. The tallest mountain Rwenzori is also found here and to top this up we have the Mountain Gorillas which can only be found in 3 countries in Africa, Rwanda, DR Congo and Uganda. Most know for Gorilla tracking as a destination but also other safaris are available. For anyone visiting Uganda you will not be disappointed as Uganda has all the big five animals(elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalos) with one able to spot at list 3 in each one of the 10 national parks we have in the country.
When booking a safari package to Uganda one has to take some steps and I believe these will guide you on how to book a safari to Uganda.
Ideally the first step is to identify that you are dealing with a professional and not a scam or an amateur in business. How do we do this? Through vetting process and this can be done in many ways. For Uganda ensure that the person you’re working with is a trusted member of the Association of Uganda Tour Operators which is a governing body for tour operator and regulates all their activities and base line on how they should operate. AUTO ensure that you are not robbed by its members and if it happens that by bad luck something goes wrong on safari or during booking you can contact them and they will step in. beware of people selling to good to be true prices for packages when everyone else is selling at a high price. For eample someone selling the gorilla permit at USD500.00 while everyone else is selling at USD700.00.
Step two is to check with other or their previous clients in regards to the service and professionalism, and the best mesure here is TripAdvisor and Safari Bookings. Companies that work regularly and provide good service are those that you will find with positive reviews. Choose a company for its reputation as the clients say and avoid miss guided reviews from those who want to turnish image.
Identify the safari package you want.
With the various packages marketed on our website, choose the package that fits you. Choosing a package depends on a few components which are time, budget and interests/likes. For many opting for Uganda as there number one destination the main thing that comes to their mind is gorilla tracking. Being that among all the 3 countries that offer this activity Uganda’s’ is the most flexible and affordable on all aspects. i.e. Rwanda Gorillas are very expensive at USD1500.00 per permit per trek, DR Congo the permit is cheap but the destination is very insecure whereas Uganda all conditions are favourable, permit affordable at USD700.00 per person per trek and security is guaranteed. Other interesting areas to consider are wildlife, birds, primates, the locals and hiking activity with the snow kept Rwenzori found in Uganda.
The number of days you have are also important while choosing the destination and for Uganda you can do a trip for as short as even two days and as long as more than 30 plus days while adventuring the country and you will still not be able to reach every corner of the country, the position of Uganda makes it easy for you to connect with other East African Countries to safari making booking flights easy and the visa as well as we operate on an East African visa which permits you re-entry in the region as long as its valid.
The budget is friendly here with services offered from as low as budget services of camping and dormitory stay to super luxury of exclusive stay at the lodges, vehicles and flights connecting you to every destination. Our packages cut across all the budget options and if you can’t find the type of trip you want contact us and our safari consultants will tailor one for you. We pride very much in quick response and this can be seen from our reviews on both Safari Booking and TripAdvisor.
Once you find the package you want on our website, send through an inquiry or contact us here and our safari consultant will respond back to you within the shortest time possible. Confirming a package requires one to know if the services you are requesting are available for the requested dates. Accommodation, transport (including flights) permits and per entry fees and boats or any other optional services on request and to also be able to suggest and advise you accordingly on the booking since we are experts on the destination we are packaging. For example gorilla permits are a very sensitive component of a safari and one has to ensure that if a client is booking a gorilla safari, permits are available before confirming the package otherwise you may destroy the entire experience for the client if you book the wrong dates or fail to book them for him /her and same applies to accommodation. Knowing the high seasons and low seasons is very important and that during high season services are on high demand as many people are traveling so advice is to book early to avoid missing out. After we have confirmed that all services are available as requested by our client we then proceed to then next step which is confirmation of the services and booking them in advance for you.
Payments for the trip.
Unlike many other companies, at Encounter Africa Safaris we request you to make a deposit, not half but just for the Gorilla permits and chimpanzee permits they are part of the safari you have booked and if they are not then just deposit of 20% would be enough to confirm the booking. One payment is made, we require you to send through proof of payment and we will then send through the booking manifest form for you to send us your details and required information. Balance for the trip is required at least 3 weeks to the safari date to be paid in full. You will then need to know more about Uganda as a destination before travel which we will send through our travel information document to guide you on which documents you need before travelling to Uganda and which vaccines to inoculate.
