What is gorilla trekking?
Gorilla trekking is an adventure where you follow a fully habituated gorilla family and stay with the primates for just one hour. Only trekkers aged 15 years above are allowed to go gorilla trekking. At the moment, Uganda has 19 gorilla families and 152 gorilla permits open for tourist viewing per day. Rwanda now has 12 gorilla families and 96 gorilla permits per day.
What Is A Gorilla Permit?
The gorilla permits is a card or piece of paper in form of a ticket allowing you chance to do gorilla trekking on a particular day. It is charged per person per day and maximum 8 gorilla permits per gorilla family are released for public booking per day to minimize disturbance.
How Much Can I Buy The Gorilla Trekking Permit
The cost of Uganda gorilla permit is currently $700 per person per trek for foreign nonresidents, $600 for foreign residents and 150000 shs fore East African Residents.
Rwanda gorilla permits currently cost $1500 per person per trek.
The cost of gorilla trekking permit includes parks fees, ranger guide fee, certificate after gorilla trekking, one hour with the gorillas, security, local community support and gorilla conservation support.
The cost of gorilla trekking permit excludes; energy bites, accommodation, transport, packed lunch and any other items of personal nature
Can I Buy The gorilla Permit In Instalment?
Buying the gorilla permit in full is the best advice but when inevitable, Uganda wildlife authority allows purchasing the permit in instalments of 30% and 70% of the total cost. This only applies when you purchase the gorilla permit before 90 days to the date of trekking and top up before 90 days to gorilla trekking date.
Can I Reschedule the gorilla trekking Permit?
In case you are not able to travel for your honeymoon and do gorilla trekking but wish to push this to a future date, you can reschedule it.
Write to Uganda Wildlife Authority requesting to reschedule the gorilla trekking date. Attach some evidence if you have it as back up for your safari.
When ratified, your gorilla permits are moved as requested but this depends upon availability per your new dates of gorilla trekking.
Uganda has two free chances of rescheduling the same gorilla permit but the third time has to be approved by the executive director. A 25% surcharge of the total gorilla permit cost is applied.

Kampala to Kabale to Kanungu to Buhoma. Driving from Kampala to Kabale is 414 kilometers then 120 kilometers to Kanungu and Kanyantorogo.
Drive To Mgahinga National Park
Kampala to Kabale to Kisoro. The drive from Kampala to Kabale is 414 kilometers then connect for 80 kilometers’ drive through a winding road to Kisoro. Carry on for 14 kilometers to Ntebeko main gate of Mgahinga National Park.
Drive To Volcanoes National Park

Air Transport
