Gorilla Habituation experience in RushagaUganda Wildlife Authority is planning yet another exciting tour product for gorilla lovers and this time it is not gorilla trekking but gorilla habituation experience in Rushaga region of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Gorilla habituation was mentioned in Uganda Wildlife Authority plans of 2014 and in 2015 it has become a reality. Gorilla habituation in Ruhaga region of Bwindi Impenetrable national Park is still at a mock stage and all those interested in participating in it have to pay $1500.00 per person and as of now, it is limited to four hours with wild mountain gorillas still under habituation.

Where to book your gorilla habituation experience in Rushaga

According to officials from Uganda Wildlife Authority, Gorilla habituation in Rushaga can now be booked on ground by contacting the Warden of Rushaga region who will then inform you about availability of slots and how to make a booking. At the moment there five habituated gorilla families in Rushaga and two semi habituated mountain gorilla families. Habituated mountain gorilla families in Ruhaga include Nshongi, Mishaya, Busingye, Bweza and Kahungye while semi habituates gorilla families in the south of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park include Biking gorilla family and Bushaho gorilla group. Its from one of these gorilla families that gorilla habituation in Rushaga will take place.

What to expect on your gorilla habituation experience in Rushaga

You will have to wakeup very early at about 6:00am to start your trek in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You will be guided by researchers who have been trained to habituate mountain gorillas. Once you find the gorillas under habituation, researchers will start conducting their day today activity as they explain to you all the details. This may involve learning about gorilla behaviors, naming of gorillas as well as photography.

When to book your gorilla habituation in Rushaga

Just like gorilla trekking, gorilla habituation in Rushaga is slowly by slowly picking up and the number of tourists allowed to participate in it is currently limited to six people. For you to confirm this activity, you need to book it in advance at least three months in advance.
