Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has witnessed so many dynamics with many gorilla families splitting and others being habituated. As we write, news coming from Nkuringo in the southern part of Bwindi is that Bushaho gorilla family is open for gorilla trekking. Bushaho is one of the two gorilla families that has been under habituation together with Bikingi. This means that Nkuringo will soon have two gorilla families that can be trekked from this side of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. While we have two habituated gorilla families that can be trekked from Nkuringo side, the number of families available for gorilla habituation experience has reduced to one Bikingi located in Rushaga region of Bwindi. Bushaho gorilla family opening for gorilla trekking also means that 16 gorilla permits will always be available at Uganda Wildlife Authority daily. This will give tourists interested in Nkuringo to have an option to choose from.

Bushaho Gorilla family is now open for gorilla trekking

Bushaho gorilla family has nine members as of now but just like other gorilla families, it may expand in size depending on new born babies, whether the dominant Silverback will be able to conquer other members from other unhabituated mountain gorillas in that region. Now that Buhaho gorilla family is open for gorilla trekking, the total number of gorilla families in all four regions of Bwindi has now increased to 12 meaning that Uganda is one of the best countries to see these endangered mountain gorillas in the wild. With another gorilla family in Mgahinga once can choose from a variety of families available.
