Buhoma Lodge is one of the best luxury lodges in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, it is located in Buhoma sector northern part of the park. It is one of the two lodges located within the park, Bwindi Forest. It is close to the starting point of gorilla tracking in Bwindi with just a short walking distance hence attracting most luxury travellers to choose to stay here. How to access Buhoma Lodge
Buhoma Lodge is situated at the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, this can be accessed by road and air transport. By road the drive time will depend on where you will be given the fact the road network to Buhoma Lodge is great and you will be able to get to the Lodge safely, From Entebbe, it will take you approximately 8-9 hours drive to reach Buhoma Lodge and 4-5 hours from Kigali, Rwanda. This can as well be accessed from the neighbouring national parks that you can include in your itinerary that is 2 hours drive from Queen Elizabeth National Park, 6 hours drive from Lake Mburo National Park and 2 hours drive from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
Buhoma Lodge can as well be accessed by air; flights are available daily from Entebbe Airport and Kajansi Airfield to Kihihi Airstrip. For you get to Buhoma Lodge you will fly to Kihihi airstrip and from here you will be transferred to the lodge by road which will take you approximately 1 hours drive. Three daily flights are scheduled for this route from Entebbe Airport with departures at 7am, 10:15am and 12:00pm it will take you 1:45minitues to reach Kihihi airstrip and from here you will be transferred to Buhoma Lodge. The flight fares to Kihihi are USD283 for a one-way flight and USD472 for a return flight.

Gorilla tracking Experience
Gorilla tracking is done in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park which is just a walk to the starting point when you are staying at Buhoma Lodge. For you to trek Mountain gorillas you will need a gorilla permit secured for you in advance and once you have this secured then the next step will be booking for your accommodation at Buhoma Lodge, contact us and we will secure all this for you.
Videos & Photography
Personal filming of mountain gorillas while on the trek is not charged that is you can have your personal video, digital or SLR cameras with you while on the trek, after the trek in the communities or around the lodge for you to capture photos and videos on your safari. It is only for the professional filming or filmmakers and commercial filming that you have to make an advance booking and fulfil the required procedures for you to be allowed to carry on an filming while on your safari, that is you will be required to have a media card with you to be allowed to film among other precautions contact us here we can as well book for you a filming safari.
Buhoma Community Village and cultural Walk
The Buhoma community village walk gives you an opportunity to visit the local community leaving around Buhoma Lodge, on your walk you will encounter various local people including the Batwa pygmies, having a chance to support them through purchasing the locally made crafts. You will also enjoy the local traditional music, local brews among others.
Bwindi Community Hospital
Bwindi Community Hospital was established in 2003 to support the local community as a health service provider and has since helped the local communities near Buhoma Lodge to combat various diseases and save lives of the vulnerable including the Batwa pygmies. You will visit the Hospital to learn how it is helping to improve the quality of many lives of the local people around Bwindi.
Batwa Cultural Experience
The Batwa cultural experience gives you an opportunity to encounter with the original inhabitants of Bwindi Forest, these people referred to us the Batwa pygmies were displaced from Bwindi Forest to ease the conservation and protection of the Mountain Gorillas. With this cultural experience, you will see, understand and participate in the lifestyle of the Batwa how the used to survive in Bwindi Forest and how they are now coping with life outside the forest.
Bwindi Forest Walk
The Bwindi Forest walk is managed by Uganda Wildlife Authority and takes place in Bwindi Forest National Park, on this walk you will have a chance primates like monkeys, learn about the various forest flora and fauna. This walk takes approximately 3-4 hours which as well includes a hike to the waterfall.
Bird Watching
Bwindi Forest National Park is one of the best places to go for bird watching in Uganda; this is done in Mubwindi swamp which is as well close to Buhoma Lodge. There is a recorded 350 bird species and 23 species of these are endemic to this area.
Butterfly Watching
Bwindi Forest is a home to over 200 butterfly species and some of which are endemic to this forest, this is another activity that you should not miss while you stay at Buhoma lodge.
