Buhoma Lodge formally known as Buhoma Homestead is found in Buhoma side of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and is undoubtedly one of the luxury exclusive camp you can dream of in Uganda. The lodge is located inside Bwindi Impenetrable National park and it is a mere five minutes’ walk to the Park headquarters where all activities mainly gorilla tracking starts from. This makes it an ideal lodge for activities in the northern section of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Buhoma Lodge has nine well designed and comfortable wooden cottages designed to give you that extra good sleep before and after your gorilla trek in Bwindi impenetrable National Park. Each room has a verandah to offer your great views of Bwindi Impenetrable forest canopy and its associated fauna such as birds and primates. All rooms are self contained with either en suite bathrooms and or bath tabs and flushing toilets. A fully stocked bar in the lodge’s elevated lounge is ideal for you to sit, share a drink as you prepare and discuss the next day’s activity with friends and guides.
Buhoma Lodge is one of the few lodges that fully practices principles of ecotourism and responsible Tourism. As part of their commitment towards that, most camp staff are recruited from the surrounding communities, the lodge itself was constructed using local materials bought from the local community in the nearby village, the lodge uses solar energy to reduce on green house gas emission.
As part of our commitment as an organization with a responsible tourism policy we have designed the lodge using sustainable local materials where possible, with the emphasis being on natural products, which has, in turn, given support to the local communities and businesses. Supplies are obtained, as far as possible from local sources and staff are also generally recruited locally and trained on site. Our water supply is gravity fed and solar power is used for lighting with power points limited to a central area allocated for recharging cameras and videos. Foods most especially fruits and vegetables are purchased from the gardens of local community and thus leading to community development.

Because of the location of the lodge, there is no doubt that gorillas have sometimes been spotted there giving a surprise visit to the resident clients. Gorilla families that can be trekked from Buhoma Lodge include Mubare, Rushegura, Habinyanja, Oruzogo and Bitukura.
