Booking 2016-2017 chimp permits-Just like gorilla trekking in Uganda or Rwanda, one needs a chimpanzee permit or chimp permit to trek habituated chimpanzees in Uganda and or Rwanda. Habituated chimpanzees are found in Kibale National Park, Chambura Gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Karinzu Ecotourism site as well as Budongo Forest in Murchison Falls National Park. In Rwanda, chimpanzees can be trekked in Nyungwe Forest National Park. This article is aimed at explaining the process of booking 2016-2017 chimp permits both in Uganda and Rwanda.

While booking 2016-2017 chimp permits for Uganda and or Rwanda, we encourage you to contact Encounter Africa Safaris or any other tour operator who will organize this for you at no extra charge as long as you book a whole tour with us. All habituated chimpanzees in National Parks of Uganda are under Uganda Wildlife Authority and as such while booking 2016-2017 chimp permits, UWA has to be contacted by tour operators or individuals. In Rwanda, you have to deal with Rwanda Development Board. Price for Kibale chimp permit in Uganda is USD150.00 for Foreign nonresidents, USD100.oo for foreign residents and USD50.00 per person for Kyambura chimp permits. Booking 2016-2017 chimp permits requires you to inform Encounter Africa safaris of the year, month and the actual date of trekking. Our staff will then check availability of chimp permits at your preferred National Park and will advise accordingly. Once we agree on terms of payment, then we will book these permits on your behalf. Once we have booked your chimp permit, you will be allowed to either trek chimps in the morning or in the afternoon as UWA has two trekking sessions a day.
