The drier months of the year are the most preferred time for mountain Rwenzori hikes. These include June, July, August, September, December, January, and February. The trails are normally dry and passable, and there is less precipitation, too.

Rwenzori mountain ranges are located in western Uganda and are snowcapped yearly. The Rwenzori mountain was named the “Mountains of the Moon by Alexandrine Geographer Ptolemy. This chain of mountains marks the border of Uganda and Congo. Rwenzori Park can be explored for at least seven days on trails that wander along the Mobuku and Bujuku valleys beneath the highest peaks.
The fauna and flora of the Rwenzori mountains include more than 241 bird species, of which about 19 species are endemic to this mountain. During the hike to mountain Rwenzori, you may spot animals like chimpanzees, forest elephants, leopards, black and white colobus, giant forest hogs, bushbucks, and blue monkeys.

Rains usually start late October through November, so there may be better seasons for mountain climbing the Rwenzori. The trails are more slippery, and matter decomposes, so you need gear that protects you in this environment. Sometimes, you may need to spend an extra day at the hut in case the rains pour over to avoid facing the boulders that may fall from the mountaintop.

Day six descends to Guy Yeoman camp, and Day seven arrives at Nyakalengija.

You can take the north Fort Portal route from Kampala, which is about 375 kilometers. The southern route is via Mbarara and Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is about 450 kilometers. Nyakalengija camp is about 17 kilometers from Kasese to Fort Portal road and 25 kilometers from Kasese town.
You can book the daily domestic flights from Kajjansi or Entebbe airport to Kasese airstrip, where you can get on a connecting flight to Rwenzori Mountaineering service.
Charter flight services are available from Entebbe Airport or Kajjansi Airstrip, but advance booking is necessary, and hiring a transfer vehicle is needed, too.
No, children are not allowed to climb mountain Rwenzori because of the nature of this adventure. Many obstacles may not favor children. The trails used during mountaineering on Rwenzori are quite challenging, which may be hard for children.
The days spent on the mountain are too many for children to withstand, away from supplies, which may cause them to get sick.
Not even the aged are allowed to hike mountain Rwenzori because of their physical capability to sustain the long walks and limbs that are not fit enough. There is no sedan chair service during mountain climbing on Rwenzori mountain.
