There are 14 climbs requiring various levels of rock scaling techniques and all equipment can be got and hired from the Sipi Falls tourist guides association. Rock climbing offers tourists with the main falls and the Karamoja plains and among others.
Although climbing is done all year round, the dry seasons of June through August and December through March are the ideal times to visit Mount Elgon. The climate of Mount Elgon is damp to somewhat dry. It is a water catchment area since it receives 3,000 mm of rainfall on average every year.
