Visit Batwa And Garama Caves during Honeymoon in Mgahinga National park

East or west home is best but the Batwa families lost there home to conservation of the mountain gorillas. The forest was the sole provider for this unprivileged community of the Batwa until the early 1990s when they were evicted in order to draw a line between humans and the mountain gorillas.

This community visit is conducted by the Batwa guide with great knowledge of there past experience. Tit starts from the bottom of Mountain Muhavura to Garama cave. Family is key to the Batwa so they take you through the traditional life of the Batwa pygmies. They present demos of their hunting skills, how they harvested wild honey, traditional folk performances and so much more.

In the past, the Batwa used to raid the gardens of farming neighbors and retreat into the 342 meters long Garama cave placed close to the edge of Mgahinga National Park. This cave also acted like the council chamber for the Batwa.

As of today, the Garama caves are the auditorium for traditional Batwa performances and a reminder of there passed life.

Hike Mgahinga National Park Mountains On Honeymoon
